Dzunuḵ̓wa is a contemporary dance work that incorporates ceremonial dance motifs from the potlatch to invite the cultural and ancestral into the creative process. With a play on the Kwakwaka’wakw traditional story of Dzunuḵ̓wa (the wild woman of the woods), this piece urges the question of Where will our traditional stories go as the land is extracted and exploited by colonial forces? Exploring the wild and zany of the supernatural, Dzunuḵ̓wa asks some tough questions and digs into the magic of Indigenous storytelling and worldview.
